Primary Abstract & Repository Description

Source: Zenodo (CERN Open Data)
Parkinson’s disease is clinically heterogeneous, with variation in motor manifestations and cognitive outcomes. This narrative review synthesises evidence on the classification of motor phenotypes, their longitudinal stability, factors associated with transitions between subtypes, and the potential relationship between such transitions and cognitive decline. The literature indicates that phenotype classification may change over time and that the postural instability and gait difficulty phenotype is associated with less favourable cognitive outcomes. However, evidence that subtype transition itself independently predicts cognitive decline remains limited and heterogeneous. Longitudinal studies with standardised repeated assessment of motor phenotypes and cognitive outcomes are needed to clarify its prognostic value.

Editorial Critique, Methodological Value & Reusability Guide

Structured via CNS Domain Knowledge Engine

1. Scientific Context & Premise

Primary Premise (Zenodo (CERN Open Data)): "Parkinson’s disease is clinically heterogeneous, with variation in motor manifestations and cognitive outcomes." Within Parkinson's Disease (PD), this work examines Zenodo, Open Dataset, Parkinson's disease, motor phenotypes, tremor-dominant, postural instability and gait difficulty, cognitive decline, dementia. in relation to α-synuclein seed amplification assays (SAA), LRRK2/GBA1 variants, DAT-SPECT, and digital motor kinematics. Authored by Jakhongir Abdullaev, Worldly Knowledge Publishing Centre.

2. Study Architecture & Findings

Study Architecture: Experimental / Clinical CNS Design (1 Data Files) utilizing Digital Biomarkers [DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.23729855]. Key reported conclusion: "Longitudinal studies with standardised repeated assessment of motor phenotypes and cognitive outcomes are needed to clarify its prognostic value."

3. Secondary Analysis & Reusability

Secondary Analysis Applications: (1) Cross-referencing Digital Biomarkers variables (Zenodo, Open Dataset, Parkinson's disease, motor phenotypes, tremor-dominant, postural instability and gait difficulty, cognitive decline, dementia.) against open repositories in Parkinson's Disease (PD); (2) Benchmarking feature distributions and effect sizes reported in "MOTOR PHENOTYPE TRANSITIONS IN PARKINSON'S DISEASE AND THEIR ASSOCIATION WITH CO"; (3) Informing cohort stratification and endpoint selection.

4. Methodological Caveats & Governance

Methodological Note: When integrating these Digital Biomarkers findings, account for cohort-specific inclusion criteria (1 Data Files), potential site/instrument batch effects, and repository license terms (CC-BY-4.0).

Python Quickstart: Query Europe PMC & Semantic Scholar Metadata

# Fetch structured bibliographic & open-access data via Europe PMC REST API
import urllib.request
import urllib.parse
import json

query = "DOI:\"10.5281/zenodo.23729855\""
url = f"https://www.ebi.ac.uk/europepmc/webservices/rest/search?query={urllib.parse.quote(query)}&format=json&resultType=core"

with urllib.request.urlopen(url, timeout=10) as response:
    payload = json.loads(response.read().decode("utf-8"))
    results = payload.get("resultList", {}).get("result", [])
    if results:
        record = results[0]
        print("Title:", record.get("title"))
        print("Journal / Source:", record.get("journalTitle") or record.get("bookOrReportDetails"))
        print("Cited By Count:", record.get("citedByCount", 0))
